SCHOOL RULES

1. REGISTRATION: Children from the ages of 2+ to 11+ years old can be registered at ANANDA MARGA KINDER-PREP SCHOOL 2+ years: - Pre-K Section, 3 + to 5+ years: - Kindergarten Section and 5+ & or 6 to 11+ years: - Primary Section.

2. SCHOOL FEES: - ALLschool fees should be fully paid by the first day of each school term, and the appropriate proof of payment submitted to the school. Failure to do so can result in the students being refused entry to the school. School fees can be paid directly at the bank (NCB), by certified cheque or by cash at the school office.

  • If your child is present in school one day in a term, school fees will be chargeable for the term (Conditions apply).

  • All fees are payable on Termly basis (Conditions apply)

3. AFTER CARE: - $1,500.00 per week, with home work supervision & $300.00 daily. (Conditions Apply).

N.B

  • If your child/ren’s driver has been changed, please inform the office immediately. Otherwise your child/ren will not be delivered to strangers.

  • All children that are not in extra lesson and are on the school compound after 2:30 p.m. (Pre. K – Grade 6) will automatically be placed in after care, for which parent/guardian will have to pay.

  • After-care: - (Monday - Friday) from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Conditions apply).

  • The school does not accept responsibility for any child left at the school after 6:00 p.m. (in any circumstance).

  • After Care fees strictly on pre-paid basis.


4. UNIFORMS: -Boys: Red bush-jack shirts with white buttons, black full pant.

Girls: Red break neck blouse with buttons. Black A-line tunic with square neck and wide armholes.

Footwear: - Black socks and black shoes.

P.E. Gear: Red school T- Shirt and White shorts with red side stripes (from office), White socks and track shoes.

Karate Uniform: -White Karate Uniform (from office).

NO JEWELLERY MAY BE WORN WHEN IN SCHOOL UNIFORM. Except for a small earring for those with pierced ears. THE SCHOOL accepts NO responsibility for loss or damage of any permitted jewellery.


N.B.Correct uniformsmust be worn every day, P.E. Uniforms only on designated day and Karate uniformsduring Karate class. THE SCHOOL accepts NO responsibility for loss or damage of any Gears or Uniforms or Books, Jewelry, Cell Phones and/or Electronic Games. Please write your child’s or children names in their gears. Students are not allowed to take Cell Phones or Electronic games to School.


5. CONTACT: - We must be able to contact parents/guardians in any emergency or extreme circumstances. We therefore need one (1) reliable land phone number plus your cell phone number. Please inform our office immediately of any changes in contact number or addresses.


6. PUNCTUALITY: - The day begins at Ananda Marga Kinder-Prep School with a gathering known as Morning Circle of Love, (Monday- Friday) at 8:00 a.m. Each student loves this activity and looks forward to it. Songs, games, stretching and conversation are all a part of Morning Circle of Love. The students quickly come to know the routine, picking up on the fun songs and accompanying hand movements.


The school ends (Monday -Friday) at 1.00 p.m. for Pre.-K – Kinder 3 and 2:00 p.m. for Grades 1-6. Children are required to be at school by 8:00 a.m. School gate will be locked at 8:15 a.m. and re-opened at 1:00 p.m. All children must be collected by 2:30 p.m. the latest (Pre.-K - Grade 6). It is the responsibility of parent(s)/ guardian(s) to ensure that their children arrive at school and are collected at the designated times. After care is provided for children (Pre. K – Grade 6) after regular school hours means 3p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The gate will not be opened before 7:00am. Please do not knock before the given hour.


7. LUNCH: Each day we prepare a lunch for our students based on a healthy, wholesome vegetarian diet. We use grains & fresh vegetables to provide a well balanced meal. So, the school operates a canteen at which snacks and vegetarian lunches can be purchased. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) can arrange daily payment for lunches or may opt for weekly pre-payment. Children may also bring their own lunch, if they wish, in a suitable container. NO CHILD will be allowed to leave the school premises during normal school hours to purchase lunch/snacks.


8. COURSE & SYLLABUS, EXAMINATION: The school follows The Course & Curriculum of the Ministry of Education up to GSAT level. In addition to curriculum as per Ananda Marga, The Philosophy of Neo-Humanism, the curriculum is also designed to help build the character of the students – instilling in the children moral courage, integrity, self-confidence and a spirit of service to others. Spanish, Karate, Music & Computer (Conditions apply) We also conduct Clubs such as: Spanish, 4H, Art & Craft, Drama and Speech, and Spelling all of these activities held on Fridays from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. These are our regular school activities. The school conducts two examinations- the end of Christmas term and the end of the school year (Pre. K to Grade 6).


9. LIST OF HOLIDAYS: Mid-Term, Christmas vacation, Easter Vacation, Summer Vacation and All public holidays as authorized by the Ministry of Education and the Government of Jamaica.


10. REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION:

  • Two (2) recent Passport size pictures.

  • Photocopy of Birth Certificate and Immunization Card (Original to be presented for verification).

  • Non-refundable Registration Fee and Miscellaneous fee.

  • BANK VOUCHER (For deposit of school fees to bank)

  • Recent Medical Certificate for students

  • Proof of Address for parents

  • Progress Report and Recommendation from last school (From 4+ years and Up)

  • MOE. ID # from G 1(2 term) to G6

  • G5 & G6: - Lita...And Numa. Result by M OE


IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR PARENT(S)/GUARDIAN(S) any two of the following three with a PASSPORT and Proof of Address.

1. EMPLOYMENT I.D.CARD, 2. NATIONAL I.D CARD & 3. DRIVERS LICENSE

(Original to be presented for verification)


11. WITHDRAWAL OF STUDENTS: - The intended withdrawal of students should be made known in writing to the principal at least one term (Nursery - Grade 6) in advance, before completion of the GSAT Examination, to get recommendation.


12. DISSMISAL OF STUDENTS: -School’s Authority may dismiss a child due to extreme misbehavior or violent act, from parent/ guardian and/or child towards another parent/ guardian, child and/or school authority without refund of school fee. Granting of recommendation and report card will be subjected to school’s authority discretion.



13. P.T.A.: - All parent(s)/guardian(s) are expected to be members of the Parent Teacher Association and should make every effort to attend the periodic meetings in order to continue to improve the school environment.


14. HOMEWORK: - Parent(s) must oversee their children’s Homework to see that it is properly done.


15. GROUSES: - Any parent who is dissatisfied with any matter or incident at the school should make their particular complaint known to the Class Teacher, and/or Head Teacher/Principal of the school. Parents are asked NOT to discuss these matters publicly as this may lead to a breakdown in discipline and may affect the child individually.

16. SCHOOL SUPPLIES: - It is important that parents supply their children with the implements necessary for class work, so that progress can be assured. Most supplies required indicated on the booklists for each class. Students should always bring prescribed textbooks and necessary exercise books to their classes.


17. PARTICIPATION: - ALL children are expected to participate in all school activities. Written permission will be required for some activities –i.e. field trips.


18. LEAVE OF ABSENCE: - For any leave of absence, prior leave application must be submitted to the Principal. Pupils returning to school after suffering any contagious disease must produce a medical certificate.


19. DISCIPLINE:-“Discipline is first, discipline is second and discipline is last.” Discipline must be maintained at all times and there must be mutual respect by parent(s)/guardian(s), teachers and students.


20. MISCELLANEOUS : -

  • No student will be allowed to leave school during regular hours, unless he/she brings a letter from their parents/ guardians.

  • Any kind of damage done to school property will have to be compensated individually.

  • School dues are to be paid on the notified date.

  • Parent(s)/ Guardian(s) are not permitted to see to their respective class teacher in their classrooms during class hours; instead they should contact the Head Teacher/Principal directly for information and assistance.

  • Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are welcome to visit the school and contact personally the Principal during the specified visiting hours to ascertain progress of their children.

  • Friends and acquaintances are not permitted to meet the students on the school compound.


21. BUBBLE GUM: - Experience has shown that the children cannot adequately dispose of their CHEWING GUM – In view of this we are forbidding chewing gum/bubble gum in school.


22. COMMON KILLER: - The most common cause of ACCIDENTAL DEATH in the home for children under six is swallowing of foreign objects such as bits of food, SAFETY PINS, COINS, and BEADS &BUTTONS. It is important to keep small household objects out of the reach of small children. NO COINS ARE ALLOWED AT THE NURSERY AND PRE- SCHOOL.


23. ILLNESSES: - CHILDREN WITH THE FOLLOWING COMMUNICABLE ILLNESSES ARE NOT

ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE SCHOOL. SUCH AS : -


MOUTH: - Gingivo Stomatitis, Oral Thrush, Geographical Tongue, Sore throat and any other sores or infection affecting the mouth.

SKIN: - Ring worm, Measles/German Measles, Scarlet Fever, Thrush, Chicken Pox, Scabies, Lice, Impetigo (sore spots), Rashes and skin infections of unknown cause.


EYES: - Conjunctivitis (Pink eyes/cold eyes).

CHEST: - Severe chest infection e.g. Pneumonia, tuberculosis and Whooping cough.

THROAT INFECTION: - Tonsillitis, Diphtheria Sore throat and Pharyngitis.

GASTROENTESTINAL: - Gastroenteritis/ Diarrhea and Vomiting.

OTHERS: - Poliomyelitis, Mumps, Mononucleosis and any other infectious diseases.




ILLNESS – PROCEDURE: - Whenever your child is ill, please do the following: -

  • Notify the office

  • When necessary – see the PHYSICIAN.

  • Inform Office/Class Teacher regarding ALL MEDICATION dosage and time due.

  • Check Office/ Class Teacher regarding condition during the day.

24. SCHOOL RULES: -School rules must be strictly adhered to at all times and under all circumstances. School rules maybe changed or amended without much or any notice due to circumstances such as:- Time, Places, Person for the betterment of the school.


25. MEDICAL CERTIFICATE: All students must submit a recent medical certificate before enroll in the school; Please collect original Medical Form at the office to present to the doctor. When the medical is complete, if your child has any contagious disease you need to submit a letter from the doctor stating that the child is ok to be allowed in school at a later date.
